Blog Assignment #2
I chose to observe my obnoxious little brother because he is constantly playing games on my computer. He’s 14 years old so he “rages” when he plays games and my computer also happens to be located in my room. Honestly, I’ve spent countless hours over many days observing my brother because sometimes I find it entertaining to see him cry over the littlest things. I noticed that my brother might be better than me in a game called “Overwatch”. I observed his gameplay, behavior, and attitude. From what I’ve noticed, he’s actually really good at the game considering he put in way more time than I have. Behavior wise, I think he takes competitive games way too seriously as if he doesn’t ever look away from the screen. When something doesn’t end up going his way, I can tell because he starts yelling random curse words and start trash talking his teammate. He also becomes a keyboard warrior and harasses the players. I wouldn’t really say there was an abiotic factor that influenced my observation, he was always just in my room. So, I took the easy route and just watched him do what he does best. The next time I would probably observe my brother is the moment I submit this assignment so I don’t think I would be changing any mode of observations. I might consider putting on some music so I can’t hear him rage but that’ll spoil the fun.
How long on average does my brother actually stay on my computer?
(considering I’m rarely home)
Who taught him all these curse words or how did he learn to become extremely toxic?
(toxic is a term that refers to trash talking)
Did he learn anything useful with the access of my computer and being able to communicate with random people?
Hypothesis
If I was to turn off the internet when my brother is playing a game, then he will rage with every ounce of emotion.
Here's a picture of him playing games while wearing a face mask because he doesn't want to get sick. As you can see, he means business.
